Introducing Enterprise Strategy & Transformation (EST)

The Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) will become Enterprise Strategy & Transformation (EST), marking a shift in focus and ambition.

Dear Colleagues,

I'm pleased to announce an important evolution in how we drive transformation at UCSF. Effective immediately, the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) will become Enterprise Strategy & Transformation (EST), marking a shift in focus and ambition.

Under Cheryl Meliones’ continued leadership as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategy & Business Transformation, EST will play a more strategic role in guiding enterprise-wide transformation, ensuring UCSF’s highest-priority initiatives are aligned, well-executed, and delivering measurable value.

At the center of this shift is a new Portfolio Management framework that brings discipline and clarity to how we prioritize, fund, and deliver strategic initiatives—maximizing mission, operational, and financial return on investment.

To support this work, EST will launch a Change Management Office, equipping teams with proven tools and methodologies to accelerate adoption, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and ensure value realization across initiatives.

Additionally, EST will co-lead a Continuous Improvement Community of Practice (CI CoP)—a systemwide network of experts and practitioners in project delivery, change leadership, and process improvement. This group will drive collaboration, codify best practices, and integrate AI and automation to elevate how we work in alignment with enterprise priorities.

In a time of complexity and opportunity, EST will serve as a central engine for strategy execution, continuous improvement, and enterprise-wide transformation.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we take this important next step.
