With UCSF’s Gallup Staff Engagement Survey coming up in less than two months, this week we wanted to dig deeper into what employees say is the most confusing question on the survey: “I have a best friend at work.” We asked four of your FAS coworkers why they think friendships at work help staff feel more engaged.
Best Friends at Work
According to Gallup, having a “best friend at work” isn’t just “nice to have”—it has a profound and measurable impact on employee engagement. Human beings are social animals and work is a social institution. Having trusting, quality relationships is a vital trait of why employees stay at UCSF. Ask yourself: how do you contribute to a culture of friendship and inclusion?
