More than a thank you: post-engagement survey

Dear Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) Community,

As we begin to get information back about the Staff Engagement Survey, I wanted to do more than just say thank you. You answered our call to let us hear your voice. Thank you for sharing your experiences about working here, and giving us feedback on how we can get better.

What did we learn so far? We heard from more of you! Our FAS participation rate was 78%, up from 76% last year, and more than the campus participation rate (excluding UCSF Health) of 72%.

What’s next?  Data is currently being compiled and will be shared back out with all staff in July.

  • Survey data presented to Chancellor’s Cabinet, June 22
  • Managers receive survey results, week of July 9
  • HR’s Learning & Org. Development team launches post-survey training and action planning support activities, early July
  • Teams will meet to discuss their results and consider improvements over the summer

Do something just for you. Our efforts are more than numbers--they are about you as a person, and how we can make FAS and UCSF the best place to work. When I started my professional life as a cook in a lodge in Alaska, I had no idea I’d end up where I am today. I am a strong proponent of seeking out new challenges as a way to develop, grow and stay engaged in your work. Here are just a few of the upcoming opportunities to help you learn and grow right now:

  • Check out My UC Career, a new great resource to help you develop your career path and take charge of your development.
  • Join the Staff Resource Day activities on June 12 from 11am-1:30pm in Millberry Union, with a chance to explore campus awards, organizations, and opportunities for staff development and enrichment.
  • Plan a volunteer event with your team to build relationships with your team and directly impact our public service mission.

As always, if you have any questions, comments or ideas, please reach out to me at any time.

Sincerely,

Paul Jenny
