This week we honor FAS colleagues who agreed to share a special part of their history with us.
What Shapes Who We Are
At a recent FAS event, colleagues were invited to bring a photo or object that honored their ancestors to learn more about each other, because our past experiences help to shape us as humans. The objects were built into table displays, offering a glimpse of our co-workers beyond what you may see day-to-day. We were honored that a few colleagues agreed to share a special part of their history with us.

This is one of three books my maternal grandma wrote on the German line of my roots. I am most impressed that she did this with only an 8th grade education. ~ Becky Daro

A people without knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots. Quote by Marcus Garvey. ~ Shawn Lewis
Grateful thoughts jar is a tradition adopted 15 years ago. When anyone comes over for a shared meal or whenever inspiration hits, a grateful thought gets added to the jar. The jar is handmade in Nicaragua. We open some grateful thoughts every year at birthdays or for any reason. And the tradition continues. Also, my Restorative Justice Program journey is shared with this bag. ~ Cristina Morrison
