New HR Leader Joins UCSF

Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Corey Jackson, JD, SPHR, CCP, CBP as UCSF chief human resources officer (CHRO). Corey will serve as senior vice president, human resources, UCSF Health and associate vice chancellor, human resources, UCSF.

In his new role, Corey will oversee all Human Resources functions to support talent management across UCSF’s academic, research, administrative, and clinical departments, partnering closely with Academic Affairs to support the academic life cycle. He is charged with strengthening UCSF’s ability to attract, develop and retain the diverse talent necessary for UCSF to be the world's preeminent health sciences innovator.

Corey’s experience is the ideal fit for our growing enterprise and focus on making UCSF the best place to work. You can read more about him here.

Corey joins UCSF from Parkland Health & Hospital Systems in Dallas, Texas, where he was executive vice president - chief talent officer. At Parkland, he evolved the human resources environment from a task-oriented, people management function to a talent management department dedicated to supporting the entire employee life cycle, from recruitment to retirement.

Prior to his position at Parkland, he was vice president for compliance, diversity & ethics at George Mason University, director of diversity and inclusion at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and a legislative counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives.

Corey will co-report to both of us and will be a member of the leadership teams for the UCSF campus and UCSF Health. He will work closely with colleagues across UCSF and the University of California, and collaborate with the University of California Office of the President.

We would like to thank the committee members who conducted the national search for a new CHRO and the many individuals who participated in our selection process. We also extend our gratitude to Jeff Chiu and Jenny Schreiber for their interim leadership since the retirement of former CHRO David Odato last month.

Corey will begin his position on September 9. Please join us in welcoming him to the UCSF community.

Sincerely,

Mark R. Laret
