Best Practices & Shared Etiquette in UCSF Work Spaces
Open spaces are collaborative and can be noisy. Be a respectful colleague and neighbor. Keep in mind that smells, sound, cleanliness and tidiness affect everyone. Here are a few more guidelines to remember in a shared work environment:
- Respect other people's personal space.
- Use visual cues before interrupting someone (also look for a do-not-disturb sign, headphones on, head down, etc.).
- Use headphones for virtual meetings and calls, or go to a huddle room.
- Utilize huddles and conference rooms for focused work.
- Clean up a shared workspace after each use. Dispose of compost, recycling and garbage in central areas.
- Stay home if you are sick.
