FAS True North update and next steps

Dear Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) Community,

I wanted to share an update on FAS True North, our compass of how we connect to the mission and values of UCSF, to provide clarity on our organization's goals -- what we are focused on and why.

What's new for FY23

We recognize how hard FAS teams are already working on high-priority projects and goals. This year, we don’t have a FAS-wide goal in every True North pillar; instead, we wanted to focus our organization-wide goals on the few, most essential priorities for us to make progress on right now. I’m especially proud of our concentrated efforts and commitment this year to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and anti-racism.

For more details, see the True North 101 handout (PDF) and True North FY23 deck (PowerPoint). In case you missed it, see the True North FY22 Q4 scorecard.

Next steps

I am looking forward to seeing FAS progress on our action plans for staff engagement and DEIA-AR. Please join me on Thursday, December 8 for our first all-staff FAS Town Hall, centering our efforts to “do the work” to address how racism is operating within FAS. You should see a “save the date” invitation on your Outlook calendars. Stay tuned for more details.

Thank you for your extraordinary work in all corners of the organization.
