Dear Colleagues,

UC systemwide trainings help ensure that UCSF is an inclusive, safe, and ethical environment, and that we are compliant with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. To protect the UCSF mission, please ensure that you have completed all required trainings as they are assigned and, if overdue, take any missing trainings as soon as possible. This is an important individual responsibility for all UC employees, and campus-specific compliance data is reviewed regularly by the UC Regents.

Three required trainings cover key areas important to us all:

1)    UC Preventing Harassment & Discrimination (required every 2 years):

This course provides information on preventing and responding to sexual violence and sexual harassment, and what each of us can to do to make our UC culture safer for all. This course satisfies a California legal requirement.

2)    Ethics and Compliance Briefing (required every 2 years):

With ever expanding requirements by the Federal Government, this training conveys important information about the UC disclosure requirements that apply to all employees and the specific disclosure requirements for researchers who accept extramural research funds.

3)    Cybersecurity (required yearly):

Ransomware and other cybersecurity threats continue to be one of the biggest risks to healthcare and higher education. IT is constantly working to defend our network and systems from attacks, but protecting our organization is a shared responsibility requiring vigilance from all of us.

Here is how to check your training status:

  • Click on the UC Learning Center link in MyAccess
  • Click on “UC Learning Center Login” from the UC Learning Center page
  • Click on “My Required Training”
  • Check the Due Dates of three mandatory trainings
  • If your status is anything other than "Attended" or “Acquired”, please complete the course as soon as possible.
  • If you are missing any of the three mandatory trainings as being assigned, please contact the UC Learning Center as soon as possible to those added to your record.

If you are a supervisor or a manager, please encourage your team to complete the course and then follow up with those who have not. Supervisors and managers can review staff members’ training compliance through HR Umbrella by going to the “Learning Center By Staff” section or through the UC Learning Center Manager Dashboard.

Please contact the UC Learning Center if you have any questions about your status.

Thank you to everyone who has completed the courses already. Unfortunately, many members of our community are behind. Because this leaves UCSF vulnerable to security breaches, audit findings, and increased liability when breaches occur, I appreciate your prompt efforts to catch up. I will provide an update in the coming months on UCSF’s overall compliance rates, including the steps we will take to address individuals who remain out of compliance.

Sincerely,

Erin S. Gore
