Dear Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) Community,

I am writing to share some preliminary results from our 2024 Staff Engagement Survey and outline our next steps.

PRELIMINARY RESULTS
FAS celebrates continued stability in our staff engagement results despite declining engagement and satisfaction in America’s workplaces.

A few highlights include:

  • More FAS staff shared their voice this year - 87% compared to 86% last year
  • More staff said progress was made on action planning - 4.12 this year compared to 4.09 last year
  • FAS staff burnout continues to decline for the second year in a row
  • FAS staff continues to lead in the areas of commitment to stay at UCSF, likeliness to recommend UCSF as a place to seek care and in our connection to UCSF’s mission

Most FAS results remain stable, with little meaningful movement compared to last year. Initial conversations with Gallup show that FAS would benefit from focusing on manager engagement and targeting special attention to departments and populations within FAS that are experiencing less engagement in the workplace. We’ll learn more at the Gallup results deep-dive presentation for leaders in July.
