Dear Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) Community,

Tomorrow is the launch of the 2022 UCSF Staff Engagement Survey. As Chancellor Hawgood noted in his message last week, your participation is vital in helping us understand our progress towards becoming a more inclusive and supportive place to work. The 2022 survey will include new questions related to understanding staff members’ intent to stay employed at UCSF and their opinions on workload or burnout, providing information we can use at the UCSF-wide and team level to create a better workplace.

I have enjoyed learning more about what matters to FAS staff. The Gallup questions addressing learning and growing and belonging stand out to me. Do our people feel they have a place at the table, someone to go to lunch with, someone to talk to on the phone? Do our people feel like they are being developed and challenged?

We are eager to hear your thoughts. Now is the time to pause and reflect on how work is going for you. Your input makes change happen at the organization-wide level and helps our FAS departments understand where to focus, so teams can do more of what’s working well and take action to address what’s not.

More than 227 staff engagement action plans were created within FAS this year, many focused on belonging and inclusiveness. Download the FAS Staff Engagement Survey 2022 Basics Presentation (PDF) to get more details, plus highlights from 2021 results and FAS action planning.

A special thank you to this year’s FAS Staff Engagement Ambassadors! Please reach out to them if you have any questions.
