SVC Update: Flexible work at UCSF is evolving

Dear FAS Community,

Today UCSF Health announced changes to their flexible work model. UCSF’s flexible work model will evolve over the next year, and leaders are planning how it will impact their departments.

Luckily, FAS has already leveraged lessons learned during and since the pandemic to understand where and how flexible work is effective based on our unique service delivery model. While we know there are changes to come, FAS is well-prepared and ahead of some other parts of the enterprise in establishing work models. We have ~2900 employees, the majority working onsite most days, with some flexible employees and limited fully offsite staff.

Each FAS Executive Team member will work with me over the coming months to review the new guidance with their leaders and update worksite expectations within their areas to support UCSF mission excellence, inclusive of Campus and Health roles.

We will work across FAS to implement any new guidance and address efficient use of space based on onsite and operational needs. Once that happens, you will get more details directly from your department.

Chancellor Hawgood and I will update you with more details on Campus plans for evolving our flexible work model in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, thank you for your support.
