September 2014 Important Employee Engagement and Customer Survey Updates

Dear FAS Supervisors / Managers,

Excellent customer service delivered by our engaged staff is foundational to FAS being a well- run business in support of the UCSF’s health mission. To this end, below are three important updates that you should be aware of:

  1. The final Employee Engagement training will take place on September 25th via webinar. Please see details below to participate. Recordings of the webinars will be posted to the Learning and Organizational website where training presentations are already available.   1. As a reminder, 60% of the FY15 STAR goal is once again tied to improvement in the campus Employee Engagement Accountability Index. The other 40% is tied to achieving a goal established and communicated to you for your FAS department. The Staff Recognition and Appreciation Program (STAR) is available to eligible non-represented staff with potential payouts of $2000 for MSPs and $800 for PSSs. Please see FY15 program details for eligibility. Payouts for FY14 are expected in October 2014 – we were all successful in achieving last year’s campus staff engagement accountability index goal (worth 60%)!

Note: Employee Engagement Accountability Index is calculated as the average of the below three questions on the annual Gallup survey:

  • I received feedback on the previous Staff Engagement Survey conducted at UCSF in 2014.
  • My team participated in an effective action planning session following the previous Staff Engagement Survey conducted in 2014.
  • My team has made progress on the goals set during our action planning sessions after the last Staff Engagement Survey conducted in 2014.
  1. The 2014 FAS Customer Satisfaction Survey will take place starting October 27th thru November 14th. We will be asking UCSF campus faculty, staff, and students to rate our services, as well as directors, managers and supervisors from the UCSF Medical Center and selected customers who use our services from the Office of the President. Prior to the survey launch, customers will be sent a communication asking them to participate and reminding them of selected service improvements we have made since the last survey based on their valuable feedback. In the next month, please take the opportunity to remind your customers personally that their feedback is important and encourage them to complete the survey. As a token of our appreciation, participants will have the chance to win one of fifteen Amazon Gift Cards valued at $50 each!

Employee Engagement Training Webinar Details

The Learning and Organization Development department will offer two webinars covering introductory and advanced engagement training on Thursday, September 25. They are intended for UCSF supervisors and managers at all levels at remote locations who were unable to attend the classroom sessions during the past two months. It is important that you attend both webinars to  learn of changes in the impact planning process and two additional approaches to increasing engagement.
 

These webinars represent the final live training that we will be conducting this year. They will be recorded on posted on our website, along with recordings of the classroom sessions.

  1. Organization’s Expectations:
  • Communicate survey results to their staff by August 29 (there is a grace period through September 30 for those on vacation).
  • Complete and enter department action plans in Gallup Online by October 31.
