Highlights from November FAS Managers’ Town Hall

The November 7 Managers’ Town Hall highlighted the following topics (follow link to see full presentations):

FAS Strategy Deployment Update:   Senior Vice Chancellor, Paul Jenny discussed progress made and lessons learned in the first quarter on implementing our five strategic priorities and how they will contribute to our FAS True North.

Safety True North Pillar: Two speakers provided a more in-depth view of topics central to our Safety True North pillar:

IT Security: One of our True North metrics is Zero IT Security-Related Privacy Breaches.

Chief Information Security Officer, Pat Phelan discussed phishing – a critical aspect of our IT Security strategy which requires everyone’s vigilance. Please see these quick tips to avoid being Phished. You can also find additional resources on Security Awareness and Training on the UCSF IT website.

Perception of Safety: Jason Heil, Crime Analyst and Crime Prevention Specialist, in the UCSF Police Department, shared with us an update on the True North metric to improve Perceptions of Public Safety and detailed how the Department collects this information via its Customer Satisfaction Survey.   Jason also discussed the purpose and content of  the UCSF Annual Security Report as a key aspect of UCSF’s Clery Act compliance. The Security Report and associated statistics are used to guide law-enforcement efforts, improve safety, and promote awareness of crime prevention resources and training.

  • Pride Values: Leeane Jensen, Executive Director of Wellbeing Services & Operations in

Campus Life Services and Ellen Loyd, Human Resource Manager, shared with us the two most recent efforts to reinforce our PRIDE values:

Performance Evaluations: The Campus Performance Evaluation form has been updated to emphasize PRIDE values as important factors of performance. Please visit Campus Performance Evaluation Toolkit (MyAccess login required) to see available forms, a rating guide and a recorded training. 2017 performance evaluations will be due March 15, 2018 for Campus staff.

Recognize.UCSF.edu: Building a culture of recognition and acknowledging those who embody our PRIDE values is critical to staff engagement. A UCSF-wide collaboration has resulted in a new recognition tool that allows anyone to UCSF to publicly recognize colleagues across UCSF, regardless of position or location.
