Chancellor Hawgood Assumes Interim SVC Leadership

Sent by Chancellor Sam Hawgood

Dear Colleagues,

I’m writing to update you on the leadership transition plan for SVC Paul Jenny, who will begin his new role as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) on January 25, 2021. We are moving quickly on a national search for new leadership of Finance and Administrative Services (FAS). During the interim period, I have asked Paul’s direct reports to report directly to me. Associate Chancellor Terri O’Brien and Chief of Staff Stephanie Mackler will manage the day to day operations of the Senior Vice Chancellor Office and coordinate the efforts of FAS.

Finance and Administration is led by seasoned, deeply competent and highly regarded leaders. These leaders have extremely full portfolios and are focused on UCSF’s recovery efforts. One of my top concerns was adding to their already full plates. My well-established relationships with FAS leaders will help ensure they have the support they need while the SVC recruitment is underway.

SVC signature items and delegations of authority should be sent to Terri and Stephanie to prepare for Chancellor approval.

We are working to identify a recruiting partner and will quickly appoint a search committee.

Thank you to Terri and Stephanie for taking on additional responsibilities during the transition, and to the FAS leadership for their continued dedication to our UCSF mission. We wish Paul the best in his new role at CCHMC.

Sincerely,

Sam Hawgood, MBBS
