FAS Connects Beyond the Squares

Dear Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) Community,

‌FAS held several in-person events last month, with the goal of connecting. Colleagues from every department got to connect in person, in Town Halls, retreats, team meetings and our first Continuous Improvement Information Fair.

‌“It was so nice to meet the person behind the Zoom square,” was one of many comments I heard about the value of seeing each other. I encourage you to continue to connect across departments and outside of your “squares” — virtual or otherwise.

‌Together, we are partners on ambitious projects to improve our environment while also carrying out the day-to-day work that keeps UCSF running.

‌I have faith in our strength as a team and in each of you for your unique role in supporting UCSF’s mission. Below, I’m sharing two videos of projects we celebrated together in October, a video reflection of the incredible Continuous Improvement Fair held on October 28 and a video of the outstanding Project One Panel at the FAS Managers’ Town Hall on October 14. I’m also sharing links of three recent projects that will improve our workplace: MyTime, Project One and the newly relaunched UCSF Cope Program, providing mental health and well-being support for all UCSF faculty, staff, trainees, and family members. ‌

‌Here’s to more connection,

Erin S. Gore
Senior Vice Chancellor
Finance and Administration

First Annual Continuous Improvement Fair
Innovation and collaboration took center stage at UCSF's first-ever Continuous Improvement Fair on October 28, 2024. Attendees explored various improvement strategies, connected with colleagues, and celebrated success stories. Watch the recap video to see highlights and hear from attendees. Congratulations to our teams on an outstanding event!

Project One Panel
Watch the recent Project One presentation and panel recording from the October 14 FAS Managers' Town Hall (the panel begins at 1:04:56). Facilitated by Senior Vice Chancellor Erin Gore, the panel features Maggie Beers, Associate CIO for Education, Info Tech Services (representative for Student Information System SIS); Patrick McClain, Executive Director, HR Shared Services (representative for Human Capital Management); Justin Sullivan, Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Procurement Officer (representative for Supply Chain Management); and Shannon Turner, Associate Vice Chancellor and Controller (representative for Finance & Research).

Recent projects that will improve our workplace

  1. ‌Project One, referenced above, is UCSF’s transformational project to align our administrative areas across the enterprise into one integrated enterprise resource management solution (ERP) to impact our Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain Management, Research Grants Management, and Student Information operations across both UCSF Health and UCSF Campus. Read more in my October email, the panel video above or the Project One website (MyAccess log in required).
  2. ‌MyTime will streamline our timekeeping and scheduling at UCSF and is planned to launch on March 30, 2025. Read more from my August email and the MyTime website
  3. UCSF Cope Program has recently relaunched, providing mental health and well-being support for all UCSF faculty, staff, trainees, and family members. The Cope program uses a simple, confidential and interactive Digital Health Tool, available in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Spanish, and Russian to connect current UCSF faculty, staff, trainees, and their family members with a wide array of mental health and well-being support services, and the support of a Cope Program Navigator to assist in connecting individuals to resources and services.  For information about UCSF Cope, access the Cope Digital Health Tool:
