Dear FAS Community,

How is the UCSF workplace working for you? The Gallup Staff Engagement Survey begins today through Friday, May 5. I want to partner with you to create a workplace that works for all of us. The survey helps us understand how work is going for you, something I care deeply about. I welcome your honest and open feedback.

Our work environment is evolving, and how we work has changed along with it. Whether your role is onsite, hybrid or remote, I appreciate the critical work you do within FAS to keep UCSF running. We could not be successful without your contributions.

We’ll be looking at this year’s results on workplace burnout, as well as a new question on well-being and, for people managers, a new question on readiness to talk about race and equity.

In the last year, more than 295 staff engagement activities were logged by 189 people managers as a result of staff input. Teams found creative new ways to work and gather, virtually and onsite. Departments also created 17 department action plans to address diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and anti-racism within FAS. Download the FAS Staff Engagement Survey 2023 Basics Presentation (PDF) to get more details, plus highlights from our 2022 results and FAS action planning.

Thank you for all you do, and a special thank you to FAS Action Plan Leads and Engagement Ambassadors.

We hope to hear from every single one of you.
