Interim Leadership Updates

Dear Financial and Administrative Services Community (FAS),

I’m writing to share our interim leadership plan for several key positions within FAS: Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Program Management Office (PMO) and the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). We are fortunate to have so much talent within our organization to continue the important work we do to support UCSF’s mission.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Upon Teresa Costantinidis’ departure on June 19, 2019, Mike Clune has agreed to serve as Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in addition to his current role as Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget & Resource Management. He assumes the Interim CFO role beginning June 20, and will represent Finance on the FAS Executive Team (FET) and the Chancellor’s Cabinet.

Mike joined the campus budget office at UCSF in 2011 after 11 years at the UC Office of the President. He became Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget & Resource Management in 2016. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration at the University of San Diego and a master’s degree in statistics and a PhD in demography from the University of California Berkeley.

Program Management Office (PMO)
Upon Mara Fellouris’ departure on June 27, 2019, Stephanie Metz has agreed to serve as Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor of Strategy and Business Transformation in the Program Management Office (PMO). She assumes the interim role beginning June 28, and will represent PMO on the FAS Executive Team (FET).

Stephanie has worked in the PMO as Director of Operations since 2018. She joined UCSF in 2017 as the Director of the FAS Finance Service Center before her role in the PMO. Prior to UCSF, Stephanie worked for the past 17 years in finance, administration, and project implementation at both UC Berkeley and Arizona State University. Stephanie earned both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Arts from Southern Methodist University, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount University.

Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)
We have made excellent progress on our recruitment for a new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to replace David Odato, who is retiring June 27, 2019. UCSF Health President and CEO Mark Laret and I are working on the transition plan and we will follow up soon with an update.

Thank you to Mike and Stephanie for taking on the additional leadership responsibilities, and congratulations to Teresa, Mara and David. We wish them the best on their new life journeys.

Sincerely,
Paul Jenny
