UCSF Chief of Police Pam Roskowski

Dear Colleagues:

After forty years in law enforcement, Chief of Police Pam Roskowski has informed me that she plans to retire as of June 29, 2015. Pam joined UCSF in 2003 as Chief of Police where she spent the past twelve years ensuring our public safety as well as the broader University of California communities.

During her tenure at UCSF, Pam’s impact has been extensive. Highlights of her accomplishments include:

  • elevating the professionalism of the UCSF Police through the implementation of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies best practice standards;
  • since 2009, leading systemwide police improvements in her role as University of California Coordinator of Police Services;
  • working closely with the UC Office of the President to ensure smooth proceedings and public safety at Regents meetings;
  • and dramatically enhancing UCSF’s emergency preparedness through efforts such as 100% completion of Business Continuity Planning, creation of the Emergency Operations Center, implementation of Mass Notification, and establishment of Emergency Care and Shelter supplies.

Additionally, Pam has been an essential part of the Financial and Administrative Services leadership team, helping us to improve the professional management of our departments, especially in areas that affect our front line employees, such as customer service and staff engagement.

A search for a Chief of Police will begin soon, and Pam will work closely with us to ensure a smooth transition.

Please join me in thanking Chief of Police Pam Roskowski for her commitment and excellent service to UC and our UCSF community. She will be missed, and we wish her the very best as she embarks on the next chapter in her life.

Sincerely,

John E. Plotts
Senior Vice Chancellor—Finance and Administration
