HR Interim Leadership Update

Dear Colleagues,

We want to update you on our interim leadership plan for UCSF Human Resources upon current Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) David Odato’s retirement on June 27. We have made excellent progress on our recruitment of a new CHRO. This position oversees HR for the campus and UCSF Health. Effective June 28, Jeff Chiu and Jenny Schreiber have agreed to co-lead Human Resources until a new CHRO is in place.

Jeff currently serves as vice president of Human Resources for UCSF Health, and Jenny currently serves as assistant vice chancellor of Human Resources for the campus. During their interim leadership, both will retain their current portfolios and join the Chancellor’s Cabinet, and the Finance and Administrative Services Executive Leadership team. Jeff also will join the UCSF Health Executive Leadership team.

Jeff Chiu joined UCSF in 1999. Over the past 20 years, Jeff has held many roles in HR with increasing responsibility, moving from an individual contributor, to supervisor and then manager, to his current role as vice president. He received his bachelor's degrees in marketing and psychology, and a master's degree in human resources management, each from Rutgers University.

Jenny Schreiber joined UCSF in 1998.  During her career, Jenny has served in a variety of human resources roles for the campus and health system including the Department of Medicine, the School of Medicine Dean's Office of Academic Affairs, and the Diabetes Center.

Thank you to Jeff and Jenny for taking on additional leadership responsibilities at a time of tremendous growth. We will update you once the new CHRO recruitment has been finalized.

Sincerely,

Mark R. Laret
