UCSF PMO Leader Announces Retirement

Dear Colleagues,

Mara Fellouris, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Strategy and Business Transformation at UCSF, has announced her decision to retire in June 2019.

Mara has spent her career helping organizations transform their operations. She joined UCSF 17 years ago to help transform UCSF’s administrative operations, which at that time comprised manually intensive processes with little automation. Under her leadership, close to a dozen critical enterprise-wide systems were deployed. Along the way, she formed the UCSF Program Management Office (PMO), building a high performing team of professionals whose management consulting, project management and change management skills have supported departments and units across UCSF.

In her current role, Mara is a trusted advisor to UCSF leaders and an advocate for employees. Her strength in continuous improvement, strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, and process redesign has supported an unprecedented period of growth at UCSF. Her ability to facilitate progress on thorny topics using a fact-based, yet empathetic approach has made her a go-to person for multiple UCSF groups as they tackle operational problems and improvement needs. Her dedication to improving UCSF operations is visible in the multiyear work she has led to adopt and adapt Lean methodology into a UCSF campus culture of continuous improvement.

Mara leaves behind a thriving PMO and will assist in the transition as we recruit a new leader. She has provided outstanding contributions to the entire UCSF community and we wish her well on her retirement journey.

Sincerely,

Paul Jenny
