Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to update you on the new Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) Executive Director of Diversity & Inclusion position. Please join me in welcoming Klint Jaramillo, MEd, MSW (he/him/él), in the inaugural role of leading our broad diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism efforts. Klint currently serves as the Executive Director of Resource Centers for Identity & Inclusion for UCSF’s Office of Diversity and Outreach (ODO). He will begin on Monday, January 8, 2024.

Klint Jaramillo, MEd, MSW (he/him/él)

"I am extremely honored to take on this new role,” says Klint. “I have paid attention to the significant advances that FAS has made in diversity, equity, and belonging, and I am excited to bring my expertise and passion to supercharge these efforts and further advance our collective goals."

Klint joined UCSF in 2016 as the Director of the LGBT Resource Center after serving as Associate Director for UC Santa Barbara’s Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity. As Executive Director at ODO, he led the LGBT Resource Center, Multicultural Resource Center, Undocumented Student Support Services, and the Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program (DICP). His years of experience will help us strengthen our partnership with ODO and other critical stakeholders.

“I am profoundly grateful for Klint’s contributions over the past seven years as leader of the LGBT Resource Center, and, more recently, the Multicultural Resource Center. His work on key initiatives and programs, including the Gender Recognition and Lived Name (GRLN) policy implementation, Pronouns Matter and other visibility campaigns, and the ODO Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program (DICP), has led to a more inclusive and welcoming climate across the campus and health system. We thank him for his leadership and look forward to the continued impact he will make as part of FAS,” said Renee Navarro, Vice Chancellor, Office of Diversity and Outreach.

Given our distinctive service role and leadership in managing policies and procedures impacting all facets of UCSF, FAS is uniquely positioned to make a meaningful difference in ensuring the workplace works for everyone. With over 2,500 employees across eight departments providing crucial central organizational functions and services, FAS is committed to leveraging its impact areas to create a more inclusive environment and opportunities for communities beyond UCSF. Special appreciation to the FAS Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility and Anti-racism (DEIA-AR) Steering Committee, who advocated for a leadership seat focused on this important work.

Klint will play a pivotal role in leading the FAS DEIA-AR Steering Committee, propelling the DEIA-AR momentum, including annual belonging goals and DEIA-AR action plans, and identifying future initiatives. He will report directly to me and serve on the FAS Executive Team (FET).

Please join me in extending our congratulations and a warm welcome to Klint as he embarks on this exciting new chapter with us.
